I really think this skill is really cool so i'd like to come up with a build with it.
Does anyone have some suggestions? I already found this:
Shadow of Haste
Stance. For 5-17 seconds you move 25% faster than normal. When Shadow of Haste ends, you return to the location where you activated this skill.
Notice it has the same duration as Shadow Form, so you can rush in, activate shadow form to step out when it ends.
My trouble is, what to do in that time?

A Monk has tried using Shadow Form ((s)he has it in the Monk Forum) and uses Reversal of Fortune to escape instant death after Shadow Form Ends.
After you Shadow of Haste to fight and then use Shadow Form once SoH ends, you run and heal yourself. 50 life is almost like death waiting to happen.
If you were an A/Me, then you can have Arcane Mimicry and hope someone from your team has Grenth's Balance or Healing Hands or Mark of Protection.

I have been using the two skills mentioned together for a while now, however, Shadow Form does not block elemental indirect AoE damage or any indirect damage, so it has limited use unless they add to it.

Does that mean Triple Shot or 100blades targeted to a guy next to you, will you take damage? I assumed Spiteful Spirit, Suffering and Cry of Frustration would affect you.
I hope its not buggy like Mist Form (Crippling Shot will hit you)
I take it traps may be a problem then?

Not only that but unblockable/evadable attacks too as well as chillblanes to strip it and yes traps too, so as you can see even if it had the added benefit of blocking all elemental AoE damage it would still have substantial counters.
But for pve it would be a godsend.

Uh, oh.... what about TRs? Vampiric Touch & Bite seem to go through basically everything. Will it go through Shadow Form too?
I may go do that against an Afflicted Assassin just to see.

Ok, 1st, Mistform isn't buggy...you misread the description. It stops the DAMAGE. The attack will still hit you and do whatever it does, just that it does no damage.
Triple Swing or 100 Blades will not hit you, it will miss. It is not an auto-hit attack. Spiteful Spirit and Suffering will both affect you assuming that either you were not the target of the hex or that it was used on you before you cast Shadow Form. Cry of Frustration I am unsure of, but I believe that the spell would fail. Do a skirmish with 2 friends and do a 2v1. Have one of you be a mesmer, one be the assassin with SF and one be an elly (for Meteor Shower or another long-casting spell). The assassin should be A/E. Use SF, then both of you use Meteor Shower. Have the mesmer try to CoF the meteor shower... If it interrupts your MS, it works.
I should be able to test this in a few days if nobody else beats me to it.
EDIT: Vampiric Touch and Vampiric Bite go through Shadow Form, I tested them on afflicted assassins. It's rather handy...they SF at almost no hp, you kill them anyway.

Cry of Frustration is cast on someone nearby. You cast SF, then they attack or use a signet, or cast a spell (then Cry gets cast on your allie). Target foe takes damage and is interupted, those nearby target are also interupted an take damage.
Mist Form, yes no damage, but why should the extra stuff come into play? That means bleeding, deep wounds, poison can go through as well. That sucks.
Vampiric stuff seems over powering. Ignores armor, conditions, protection spells and spirits, steals life.

i use this for chest runs or lut ff runs. Its a very effective combo in all pve fights and i like it because it forces you to get back out of the aggro

Yes but the point is most indirect attacks will kill you quickly in pve which makes
the elite less attractive.

I'm not sure you understand, soul explosion will cut through shadow form.

I've always thought illusion of weakness ought to be an obvious partner to shadow form, has anyone tried this?

Or Divine Intervention.
As for IoW, you need to trigger non-fatal damage AFTER you lose the Shadow Form for its effect to kick in.

Well this thread was actually meant for some ideas for pvp...
I see shadow form isnt really good for that.
Oh and btw, illusion of weakness wont directly trigger when you lose health from shadow form. You're gonna have to take more damage for that. (Thats what wiki says)
